Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before you visit the lot.

Answers on buying, financing, CDL requirements, registration, fleet pricing, and visiting Victory Auto Commercial at 4885 Elmore Road, Memphis.

Buying & Inventory

What types of commercial vehicles do you sell?
We specialize exclusively in commercial work vehicles — no passenger cars. Our inventory includes box trucks (14–26 ft), cargo vans (full-size and compact), pickup trucks (1/2-ton through 1-ton), flatbeds, and dump trucks. We carry Ford, RAM, GMC, Chevrolet, Isuzu, Freightliner, Mercedes Sprinter, and other commercial makes.
Are your vehicles inspected before sale?
Every vehicle on our lot is inspected by our in-house ASE-certified mechanics before it lists. We check the engine, drivetrain, brakes, frame, tires, and body. We can provide inspection records on any vehicle. We do not sell vehicles we would not put in our own fleet.
Can I negotiate the price?
Yes. Our pricing is transparent and competitive. Fleet purchases (3 or more vehicles) receive dedicated fleet pricing. Call (901) 380-5800 before visiting if you want to start the conversation before you arrive.
Do you accept trade-ins?
Yes. Bring your current vehicle when you visit and we'll assess it on the spot. Trade-in value can be applied toward your purchase price or down payment. Condition, mileage, and market demand all factor into the assessment.
Can I test drive a commercial vehicle before buying?
Yes. Walk-ins are welcome and test drives are standard — no appointment needed. We're at 4885 Elmore Road, Memphis, TN 38128. Open Monday–Friday 9 AM–6 PM, Saturday 10 AM–4 PM.
Do you sell vehicles out of state?
Yes. We regularly sell to buyers from Mississippi, Arkansas, and across the region. We handle the documentation for out-of-state sales and can assist with registration and title questions for your home state. Call (901) 380-5800 for specifics on your state's process.

Financing

What financing options are available?
We work with 14 commercial lenders in-house. Our finance director handles your application and submits it to the lenders most likely to approve your specific situation — LLC, sole proprietor, owner-operator, or established business. Most decisions come back the same day.
Can I get financed with bad credit?
Yes. We have lender programs specifically designed for buyers with challenged credit. Approval terms (down payment, interest rate) will reflect your credit profile, but we routinely approve buyers who have been turned away elsewhere. Be upfront about your situation — it helps us match you to the right program. See our guide: Commercial Truck Financing with Bad Credit in Memphis.
Can a new business finance a commercial vehicle?
Yes. We have programs for businesses under 2 years old. Newer businesses typically face higher down payment requirements (20–30%) but approvals are common. Some programs require the owner to personally guarantee the loan. Call (901) 380-5800 to discuss your situation before visiting.
How much is the down payment on a commercial truck?
Down payment varies by lender, vehicle price, and your business/credit profile. Established businesses with good business credit often qualify for 10–15% down. Newer businesses or challenged credit typically require 20–30%. We will tell you exactly what to expect before you commit to anything.
What loan terms are available for commercial vehicles?
Most commercial truck loans run 36–72 months. Longer terms lower your monthly payment but increase total interest paid. We can show you side-by-side scenarios so you can choose the term that fits your cash flow.
Can I finance as an owner-operator with non-traditional income?
Yes. Several lenders in our network specialize in owner-operators who document income through bank statements, 1099 forms, or profit-and-loss statements rather than traditional W-2s. Bring 3–6 months of bank statements when you visit.

CDL & Licensing

Do I need a CDL to drive a box truck in Tennessee?
It depends on the GVWR. In Tennessee, vehicles with a GVWR of 26,001 lb or more require a Class B CDL. Most light-duty box trucks (Isuzu NPR, Ford E-450) have GVWRs under 26,000 lb and do not require a CDL. Always check the door jamb GVWR sticker on the specific vehicle. We will tell you the CDL status of any truck before purchase.
Do I need a CDL to drive a cargo van?
No. All cargo vans — Ford Transit, Mercedes Sprinter, Chevy Express, Ram ProMaster, Nissan NV200 — have GVWRs well under 26,001 lb. No CDL required in Tennessee.
Do I need a CDL to drive a pickup truck?
No. Pickup trucks — even heavy-duty 1-ton trucks like the RAM 3500 or Ford F-350 — have GVWRs under 14,000 lb. No CDL required. However, if you're towing a trailer that brings the combined vehicle + trailer GVWR above certain thresholds, a Class A CDL may apply. Consult the Tennessee Department of Safety for your specific towing situation.
At what GVWR does a CDL become required in Tennessee?
A Class B CDL is required for a single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 lb or more. A Class A CDL is required if your combination (truck + trailer) has a GVWR over 26,001 lb and the trailer alone has a GVWR over 10,000 lb. For commercial vehicle-specific situations, the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security website has the current rules.

Registration & Title

Can you handle title and registration in-house?
Yes. We process titles and registration in-house in Memphis for Tennessee buyers. For out-of-state buyers, we provide all documentation needed for you to register the vehicle in your home state.
How do I register a commercial truck in Tennessee?
Tennessee commercial vehicle registration is handled through the county clerk's office. You'll need the title, proof of insurance (meeting commercial minimums), and payment for registration fees (which vary by GVWR). We walk you through the paperwork on any vehicle we sell.
Can I buy a commercial truck in Memphis as a Mississippi resident?
Yes. We sell regularly to buyers from DeSoto County and across north Mississippi. We provide all documentation needed for Mississippi title and registration. Mississippi sales tax and tag fees apply. We recommend confirming current rates with the DeSoto County Tax Assessor before your visit.

Fleet & Volume Purchases

Do you offer fleet pricing?
Yes. All vehicles are fleet-priced — we are not a retail consumer dealership. Volume discounts apply on purchases of three or more vehicles. Call (901) 380-5800 or ask for our fleet manager when you visit.
Can you source specific vehicles I need for my fleet?
If we don't have the exact spec you need on the lot, we can source it. Tell us the make, model, body type, GVWR range, and mileage tolerance and we'll let you know what's available and at what price. This is common for fleet adds where consistency matters.
How do I set up a fleet account with Victory Auto Commercial?
Call (901) 380-5800 and ask for fleet pricing. We work with fleets of all sizes — from 2-truck operations to regional multi-vehicle fleets. No minimum purchase required to access fleet pricing on individual vehicles.
